Wednesday showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are teasing a “bigger, darker, and more twisted” chapter for Season 2.

The gothic halls of Nevermore Academy are calling, and Jenna Ortega is back as the delightfully morbid Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2. A new glimpse into the upcoming Season, shared exclusively by the showrunners, has fans buzzing with anticipation.

With production wrapped and a two-part premiere slated for August 6 and September 3, 2025, showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are teasing a “bigger, darker, and more twisted” chapter. Ortega’s Wednesday remains the sardonic, unflinching heart of the series, and this fresh look promises she is ready to wreak havoc in style in Season 2.

Wednesday Season 2: The showrunners are bringing more horror into the play

Jenna Ortega‘s portrayal of Wednesday Addams in Season 1 was a cultural phenomenon, blending deadpan wit with a fierce, outsider edge that made her a sensation. In the new Season, Wednesday is as unapologetically herself as ever: witty, sarcastic, and a touch macabre.

But that is not all. The new Season prepares to explore a new foe, a deep insight into the Addams family, with some more dangerous mysteries waiting to be explored by Wednesday Adams, as well as the audience. During an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, the showrunners, Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, promise a more thrilling chapter in Season 2.

They are poised to maintain the dark humor and horror while introducing some new characters that might take your breath away. They said:

The mystery is a little more complex than season 1, but I also just feel like the world is bigger and you get to really explore other characters. Wednesday’s not in every scene, so you get to learn more about Enid [Emma Myers], you get to learn more about Bianca [Joy Sunday].

Fans can expect Wednesday’s psychic powers to take center stage as she navigates a torturous journey with higher stakes. In Season 1, we watched her unravel a monstrous killing spree tied to her parents’ past, and now, with more Addams family involvement, her dynamic with Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez (Luis Guzmán) will pull us in deeper.

Wednesday Season 2 prepares to unveil more about the Addams family

Netflix‘s Wednesday Season 2 is about to get a deeper look into the creepy, kooky world of the Addams family, and it will be a wild ride. With Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) joining Wednesday at Nevermore Academy, we will witness sibling shenanigans that channel the family’s signature chaos.

The show’s creators tease a bigger role for Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez (Luis Guzmán). Their complex history with Wednesday will unravel further, pulling you into their gothic family dynamic in Season 2. There will be more of a Wednesday and Morticia dynamics about which Alfred Gough said:

You get to explore the mother-daughter dynamic with Wednesday and Morticia. So it’s really delving more into the Addams family and their backstory, but also their relationships. You can have a family that loves each other, but there’s still issues and clashes. (Via Entertainment Weekly)

The arrival of Grandmama, played by the legendary Joanna Lumley, adds a fresh layer of Addams eccentricity, promising cryptic wisdom and maybe a few dark secrets. (Via Netflix)

Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are diving headfirst into the family’s lore, blending new characters with the quirky legacy you love, ensuring the Addams clan remains as delightfully unhinged as ever.

Wednesday, Season 2 will debut in two thrilling parts. Part 1 will hit Netflix on August 6, 2025, and Part 2 will follow on September 3, 2025.
