Outlander: Blood of My Blood is set to premiere this August and reveal the origins of Claire and Jamie Fraser’s parents

The cast of Outlander: Blood of My Blood has been sharing some amusing behind-the-scenes tales from the eagerly awaited prequel series.

The first spin-off of the popular Starz drama is set to debut this August, unveiling the origins of Claire (portrayed by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) parents.

Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy will be stepping into the much-anticipated roles as Jamie’s ancestors in 18th Century Scotland, while Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine will depict Claire’s mother and father during the WWI era.

With a multitude of fans ready to tune in, the cast has been recounting their experiences of traveling back in time to create these grand love stories.

However, Jamie Roy, who plays Brian Fraser, confessed that one of their co-stars has a particularly contagious sense of humor that led to some interruptions on set, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

In a recent video posted on Outlander’s official Instagram page, Roy remembered: “Rory [Alexander), who plays Murtagh, got the giggles.

“And it just spread through everybody like an infectious disease and everybody couldn’t stop laughing.”

Murtagh is a legendary character from the original Outlander series, initially played by Duncan Lacroix.

Spanning two timelines, the new prequel will introduce younger versions of some cherished characters, including Murtagh as well as Jamie’s uncle, Dougal MacKenzie, with Sam Retford taking over the role from fan-favorite Graham McTavish.

“But we had to keep on going,” Roy explained. “So, when the camera wasn’t on us and it was just on Harriet, all of us were having to, you know…

“We’re looking anywhere other than her eyes. Because we would just burst out laughing.”

The cast members, amidst the buzz of wrapping up Outlander, divulged they spent their off-camera moments catching up with another Scottish-based show.

Corfield, who portrays Julia Moriston, jumped at the idea suggesting which reality series their characters could dominate, exclaiming: “Traitors.”

Irvine, embodying the character Henry Beauchamp, chimed in recalling: “We did a lot of Traitors on set, didn’t we?”
