Black Mirror star Nicole Beharie has joined the cast of Apple TV+ series The Morning Show for season three.
According to Deadline, Beharie will be a regular cast member, playing Christina Hunter. The official character synopsis, as reported by TV Line, describes Christina as “a grounded, competitive, and charismatic millennial who is a new anchor on The Morning Show.
“Christina works hard, plays hard, and navigates the Teacup (anchors’ desk) with good-humoured irreverence,” it adds.
Beharie’s previous acting credits include Miss Juneteenth, Sleepy Hollow, Little Fires Everywhere, Monsterland, Scenes From a Marriage and Solos.
Besides Beharie, The Morning Show stars Friends’ Jennifer Aniston and Big Little Lies’ Reese Witherspoon, who play Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson respectively.
Billy Crudup and The Good Wife’s Julianna Margulies are also part of the supporting cast.
The Morning Show recently added Mad Men and Top Gun: Maverick star Jon Hamm to its roster as well. Hamm will play a charismatic entrepreneur named Paul Marks who sets his sights on UBA, with implications for Cory, Alex and Bradley and the rest of the team.
Charlotte Stoudt, whose previous credits include House of Cards, Homeland, Fosse/Verdon, and the recent Pieces of Her, will replace Kerry Ehrin as the showrunner for the new season, which starts production next month.
The Morning Show was renewed for its third season earlier this year, with Matt Cherniss, who’s Apple TV+ head of programming, saying at the time: “It’s been thrilling to watch The Morning Show go from strength to strength over the past two seasons, exploring topical storylines that have resonated with audiences around the world while also being incredibly addictive and entertaining.
“We’re excited to see where Charlotte takes these extraordinary characters in season three and to watch the magic that Jennifer, Reese and our awe-inspiring cast continue to bring to the captivating world of morning television.”
The Morning Show seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Apple TV+.
