Cillian Murphy is on the crest of a wave following his Oscar win for Oppenheimer earlier this year.

The Irish actor recently announced his return as Thomas Shelby for Netflix’s highly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie, and his new critically-acclaimed movie Small Things Like These is hitting UK cinemas on November 1.

Before that, you can enjoy Murphy’s 2016 British action comedy Free Fire which is now streaming for free on Channel 4’s streaming service following its airing last night (October 27) on Film4.

If you already had plans, though, you can also stream the movie on Prime Video.

Murphy is joined in the cast by MCU star Brie Larson, Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Jack Reynor, Babou Ceesay, Enzo Cilenti, Sam Riley, Michael Smiley and Noah Taylor.

Directed by British filmmaker Ben Wheatley, Free Fire is a one-location action comedy that shows what happens when a black-market arms deal goes wrong.

Set in Boston in 1978, the story follows a couple of IRA men attempting to buy automatic weapons from an emotionally unstable entrepreneur. Tensions escalate in the abandoned warehouse where the meeting is taking place, and the two gangs end up shooting at each other and getting trapped in a game of survival.

The movie received a positive reception following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, landing a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 70% (from 240 reviews).

“Free Fire aims squarely for genre thrills, and hits its target repeatedly and with great gusto – albeit with something less than pure cinematic grace,” reads the critics consensus.

Before his Peaky Blinders return, Cillian Murphy will star in a new Netflix movie, Steve, in which he also serves as producer. Adapted from Max Porter’s bestselling book Shy, the movie sees the actor playing a headteacher who fights to save a last-chance reform college from impending closure.

Steve marks the first movie for Murphy’s production company Big Things Films, which he founded with long-time collaborator Alan Moloney.
