However, alongside her Outlander books, Gabaldon has written various novellas, scholarly papers and comic books.
Whilst answering fan questions on social media, the 71-year-old American revealed that she had written a total of seventeen novels, including nine of the Outlander saga, four Lord John books, two ‘Outlandish Companions’, one graphic novel and ‘a shortish e-book’.

She also revealed that pre-Outlander success, she dabbled with writing Disney comics. Answering a fan that questioned: “Also, havet you written a bunch of comic books and scholarly papers?”
She said: “Well, yeah, but I don’t figure most people are interested in what I did pre-Outlander.”
Continuing: “Back in the late 70’s, I wrote Disney comics (not as a job; just freelance): Donald Duck (and the nephews), Uncle Scrooge, Mickey Mouse, etc.”
Many were quick to share their shock at the news.
One fan retorted: “Now I’m on a mission to find these comics! I own all of your books, need to complete my collection”
Another wrote: “That’s awesome! I had no idea”
