Dwayne Johnson is an incredibly busy man and sometimes, when nature calls, he’ll pee in a bottle instead of going to the loo.
The actor spoke to GQ to promote his new Christmas film Red One, where he spoke about his life growing up and his wish to vanish from the spotlight for a while.
During that interview, he was asked about a report from The Wrap earlier this year that claimed Johnson was so frequently late to the set of the film, it cost the production millions of dollars. Part of that report included a claim that the actor is known for weeing in water bottles on film sets.
In the GQ interview, Johnson confirmed the rumours, admitting: “I pee in a bottle. Yeah. That happens.”
He also stated that being late “happens too”, but added that it wasn’t the amount reported. “That was a bananas amount. That’s crazy. Ridiculous,” he said, calling the controversy “bullshit”.
Red One director Jake Kasdan said that Johnson’s lateness was quite typical by industry standards, adding: “[Johnson] never missed a day of work ever. He has a lot going on. He can be late sometimes, but such is Hollywood.”
“It’s not like he’s late unexpectedly, and I wouldn’t even call it late,” co-star Chris Evans said. “He comes in slightly later on certain mornings, but it’s part of the plan.
“It’s worked into the schedules and everyone knows it, so he shows up when he’s scheduled to show up.”
Despite a cast that includes Johnson, Evans, JK Simmons, Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Bonnie Hunt, Nick Kroll, Kristofer Hivju and Wesley Kimmel, as well as a hefty budget, Red One hasn’t been received well.
It currently has a 33% score on Rotten Tomatoes, while Digital Spy’s own review called it “a festive flop”.
