Netflix has shared a first look at Liam Hemsworth in season 4 of The Witcher.

The actor will be taking over from Henry Cavill, who played Geralt of Rivia for the first three seasons of the show.

Cavill announced his shocking departure back in 2022, declaring: “I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season four”. Now, after three years of anticipation, Netflix has unveiled a glimpse at the Hunger Games star in the lead role.

The trailer, posted on YouTube, sees Hemsworth donning the iconic white wig as Geralt battles a ghostly creature called a wraith. Unsheathing his sword, the White Wolf leaps into action but his efforts prove futile as he is dragged around by the spirit.

Eventually, Geralt uses his witcher abilities to magically trap the wraith. With the creature immobilised, he shoves his hand into its chest to remove what looks like its heart.

As he crushes the glowing orb, the wraith disintegrates in front of his eyes and he heads off in search of his next quest.

The trailer was originally released by the streaming service on Saturday, during the boxing match between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Terence Crawford. Hemsworth appeared in a pre-recorded message, which was played to the crowd at the event in Las Vegas.

“Hey everyone, Liam Hemsworth here. I am excited to announce that season four of The Witcher will be streaming on Netflix on 30 October. Here is a quick clip of me in action as Geralt of Rivia,” he said (via The Independent).

The star isn’t the only new face joining the fantasy series as Laurence Fishburne will be taking on the role of Regis, a worldly barber-surgeon with a mysterious past.

Meanwhile, Sharlto Copley (Leo Bonhart), James Purefoy (Skellen) and Danny Woodburn (Zoltan) will also be appearing in season 4.
