A first look at The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev’s new Netflix movie The Out-Laws has been released.
The upcoming comedy, which co-stars Pitch Perfect’s Adam Devine, follows a straight-laced bank manager who believes that his in-laws are the infamous Ghost Bandits, who rob the bank where he works the week before his wedding.
The first picture from the movie teases a comic ride, with Devine’s head splashed in a fluorescent substance as he’s surrounded by his co-stars Dobrev, Mamma Mia’s Pierce Brosnan and Ellen Barkin.
The project, which is due to hit the streamer on July 7, is also set to star Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever), Julie Hagerty (Marriage Story), Richard Kind (tick, tick… Boom!), Lil Rel Howery (Free Guy) and Blake Anderson (Workaholics).
The movie comes from The Wrong Missy director Tyler Spindel, while Evan Turner and Ben Zazove have collaborated on the script.
Dobrev is best known for playing Elena Gilbert and dopplegänger Katherine Pierce in six seasons of The Vampire Diaries, which ran for eight seasons in total between 2009 and 2017.
Meanwhile, last year it was revealed that Dobrev almost starred in the Gossip Girl spin-off Valley Girls as the young Lily Rhodes, according to casting director David Rapaport.
He revealed on Jessica Szhor’s XOXO podcast that the actress “did the best read” for the part and “was one of the best auditions I had ever seen, and for that role specifically.” Yet, she did not land the role as she looked too different from the original actress.
Rapaport went on to explain that while Dobrev “is a super star, she does not look like Kelly Rutherford.” In the end the spin-off never happened, but the episode of Gossip Girl in season 2 titled ‘Valley Girls’ saw a young Lily played by Pitch Perfect’s Brittany Snow.
The Out-Laws is set to premiere on Netflix on July 7.
