Jared Padalecki is set to join the cast of “The Boys” Season 5, but the actor admits that the new role—and reuniting with his former “Supernatural” co-star Jensen Ackles—has him feeling anxious.
“I don’t know a whole lot about it, which is effing terrifying,” Padalecki told Business Insider.
Ackles has portrayed Soldier Boy in the hit Prime Video series since Season 3, but Padalecki remains uncertain about how their characters will interact.
“I don’t know what we’re doing. I don’t know if we, like, bump into each other. I don’t know much about it. They’re still trying to write and figure out who’s gonna be there. But it’ll be the end of this month,” he explained.
Details about Padalecki’s character have yet to be revealed. However, another “Supernatural” alum, Misha Collins, is also set to appear in the upcoming season. The show’s creator, Eric Kripke—who originally helmed “Supernatural”—was instrumental in bringing Padalecki on board.
“I know Eric Kripke very well,” Padalecki said. “I know The Boys very well. He’s like, ‘Hey, you wanna come play?’ I’m like, ‘Yes, I think?’”
Despite his excitement, the actor admitted to being intimidated by the series. “It’s fucking terrifying for me,” he confessed.
His wife, Genevieve Padalecki, encouraged him to take the role despite his apprehensions. He also joked about preparing for the physical demands of the show, sending a humorous text to Kripke:
“Literally my text to Eric Kripke was like, ‘Hey, if I’m getting naked, just give me like a month’s notice to eat broccoli and rice and chicken breasts and all day long just sit there doing push-ups,’” Padalecki quipped.
As fans eagerly await more details about Padalecki’s character, his addition to “The Boys” marks another exciting reunion for “Supernatural” fans and a thrilling new chapter for the actor.
