Misha Collins Breaks Silence for Gotham Knights Cancellation

Gotham Knights star Misha Collins has shared his reaction to the news that the CW superhero drama has been cancelled after just one season.

The Supernatural alum played Harvey Dent in the series, which followed Batman’s adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) after he is framed for his father’s murder. Together with the children of other masked heroes, Turner forms an unlikely team to clear his name and uncover Gotham’s dark secrets.

Taking to Twitter after returning from a week offline, Collins admitted he was “incredibly bummed” by the cancellation and saddened that he wouldn’t get to explore his character’s darker turn.

“Just got back on the grid after unplugging for a week to hear the news that #CWGothamKnights was canceled by @TheCW and won’t be able to find a new home,” Collins wrote. “I’m incredibly bummed, and selfishly disappointed to not be able to fully explore my ‘villain arc,’ but I’m proud of the show we made and so grateful to have been able to work with such a smart, caring, good group of people.”

Collins went on to highlight the importance of the show’s inclusive storytelling, saying: “I’m especially proud that our story about fighting the good fight also gave us opportunities to tell diverse and inclusive stories. We need more of that on screen, and while this story may not be going forward, I really believe it helped open that door a little wider for more characters from all backgrounds to shine.”

The actor also thanked fans — affectionately known as “BatBrats” — for their passion and support. “Thank you, #BatBrats, for your full-throated support. The show may be ending, but I know this community will keep the light shining against the darkness in the real world. Onward!”

Next week’s episode, which was originally intended as a season finale, will now serve as the show’s final chapter.

Following the cancellation, showrunners James Stoteraux and Chad Fiveash confirmed that despite efforts to find a new network, Gotham Knights will not continue elsewhere.

“Since many of you have been asking about the possibility of Gotham Knights finding a new home, we wanted to let you know that, over the last few months, our producing partners at Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Discovery had been working extremely hard to get the show picked up or possibly even moved to a new network,” they said.

“There is a great deal of love and support for GK at the studio, and at The CW as well. Unfortunately, despite all their efforts, The CW wasn’t able to renew the show, and the studio wasn’t able to find a new home for it.”
