Netflix has released an early teaser trailer and announced a December premiere month for the spin-off of their massive Spanish heist crime drama series “Money Heist” (La Casa de Papel).
The new series focuses on fan favorite character Berlin (Pedro Alonso), the terminally ill grand larcenist, jewel thief and cracksman who is also the older brother of the heist’s mastermind The Professor (Alvaro Morte).
The story will unfold in the years before the biggest heist Spain has ever seen, likely expanding upon the flashbacks seen in the later seasons of “Money Heist” when Berlin had more empathy.
Creator Álex Pina has previously described it as “a trip through the golden age of the character, when he robbed around Europe crazy in love.” Berlin had five ex-wives so it’s not clear which romance it might focus on. As such you can still expect plenty of white-collar crime, tension, and a lot of comedy.
The series also stars Michelle Jenner as Keila, Begona Vargas as Cameron, Julio Peña as Roi, Marcel Gonzalez as Jean, Tristan Ulloa as Damian, Yuri D. Brown as Bertrand, and Joel Sanchez as Bruce. It’s not clear yet if we’ll see the return of Rodrigo de la Serna as Palermo, Álvaro Morte as The Profesor or Diana Gómez as Tatiana.
The project has been shooting throughout Paris and Madrid.
