‘Money Heist’ season 6 is hoped for by viewers of the Netflix drama. But how could it actually happen?
La Casa de Papel season five will be the final outing of the Netflix it has been confirmed. This was announced back in July 2020 as it was confirmed the series would be the most dramatic yet. However, there are a few ways the show might continue on, according to its cast and crew – here’s all you need to know about this.
Will there be a Money Heist season six?
The most popular news Money Heist fans can hope for is if the show were brought back for a sixth season.
Currently, this is off the cards but this would not be the first time Netflix went back on its decision to end a series.
What’s more, some of the cast members have even hinted this may be a possibility in the future.
Lisbon star Itziar Ituño teased this back in November 2020 when speaking to Spanish publication Vertele.
She said: “I think it’s the right decision to close the story of La Casa De Papel there, but who knows if in the future it will be reconsidered.”
However, she was also clear she wanted the show to end before it grew tired.
She added: “I am one of those who think that stories have to be just the right length so as not to tire or turn into gum that stretches until it breaks.”
Therefore, although this seems to be quite unlikely at the moment, there could still be a change of heart for the Spanish thriller.
Will there be Money Heist spin-offs?
Money Heist creator Álex Pina has previously spoken about the possibility of creating spin-offs for his show.
He teased this in an interview with Oprahmag.com back in 2020.
Pina said: “We do have many possibilities for some spin-offs, yes, and I think that’s thanks to the strong and powerful identities of the characters.
“We’ve always looked for characters to have a very complex, layered design.
“So I think almost every character of Money Heist has a duality that we would like to see in a spin-off. We could watch any of them in other contexts.”
There are just rumours at the moment about whether these could actually happen but this is certainly a good sign.
Is a Money Heist remake planned?
One confirmed way the show will be continuing is with a Korean remake set to make its way to Netflix.
This was announced by the streaming platform back in December 2020 when it was confirmed creator Pina will be involved.
He said at the time: “Korean creators have been developing their own language and audiovisual culture for years.
“They have managed, like our series, to go beyond cultural borders and become a point of reference for thousands of viewers around the world, especially among young people.
“That is why I find it fascinating that the world of La Casa de Papel is so attractive to Korean creators as to do an adaptation.
“The fact that the action is set on the Korean Peninsula also seems to me to be a milestone which I am really delighted about.”
No cast or release date have been announced yet for this but Netflix has confirmed it will be directed by Kim Hong-sun and written by Ryu Yong-jae.
