Netflix has announced when the fifth and final chapter of You will finally hit our screens.

The psychological thriller starring Penn Badgley as killer Joe Goldberg is reaching its conclusion, with the upcoming season originally expected to drop in 2024 now arriving on the streaming service on April 24.

Protagonist Joe is back in New York City — where it all began back in season 1 — after leaving a murderous trail across California and the UK.

In the official logline for the “epic” chapter 5, Joe “returns to New York to enjoy his happily ever after” with Kate Galvin (Charlotte Ritchie), who’s somewhat aware of his dark actions.

However, it seems that the power couple’s picture-perfect life won’t last long as Joe’s present is threatened by ghosts from his own past and his evil impulses.

Netflix has also released a teaser alongside the date announcement, seeing Joe take a walk down memory lane at Mooney’s, the antique bookshop he worked at in the first season.

The shop basement served as a front for the killer’s kidnapping ordeals in the infamous glass cage.

It’s very likely the cage will make a deadly reappearance in season 5, with the final scene in the teaser also suggesting that Joe could be the one inside it this time around.

Alongside Badgley and Ritchie, cast for the fifth instalment also features returning star Tati Gabrielle as Marienne Bellamy, Joe’s object of obsession in season 3 and 4.

The ensemble is rounded out by You newcomers Madeline Brewer as playwright and bookseller Bronte, Anna Camp in the dual roles of Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, Griffin Matthews as Teddy Lockwood, and Baby Reindeer’s Nava Mau as Marquez.
