Outlander star John Bell has divulged which Doctor Who character he would portray if given the opportunity.
Bell, 24, who made his debut in the long-running BBC series at age nine, has other acting credits including two of The Hobbit movies and T2: Trainspotting.
He recently spoke to Digital Spy to discuss his stage debut and whether he’d want to return to Doctor Who as the Doctor himself.
When asked whether he would commandeer the role, Bell unequivocally answered: “Of course! I would love to do it but I think I would like to be the Doctor after the next one, or I could be the assistant!”
He continued: “It would be a full circle moment, wouldn’t it? I was in the episode with David Tennant, a fellow Scot from Paisley, and also I would say the most iconic Doctor. He’s my Doctor.
“I think I fell in love with the show with Christopher Eccleston as I loved how dark he was with it, that was really cool, and David Tennant had his darkness too, and that is what I identified with. Typical me, I go for the drama.
“I tend to go for the dark side, so maybe I should play The Master,” he added.

Before his foray into theatre on February 3, the actor also spoke about his one-man stage show, The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me, and how he loves a challenge.
“It’s certainly a challenge and I love a challenge. And it is certainly scary. I love to do something that scares me, so I think it feels like the right play for me and it feels like the right time to do it,” he told Digital Spy.
“I connect with the story and the character, so that’s why I wanted to do it more than anything else.”
