Channel 4 has released the trailer for The Couple Next Door, a dark drama starring Outlander’s Sam Heughan, Poldark’s Eleanor Tomlinson, How to Get Away with Murder’s Alfred Enoch, Arrow’s Jessica De Gouw, and Outnumbered’s Hugh Dennis.

The official synopsis reads: “When Evie and Pete move into an upscale neighbourhood, they find themselves in a world of curtain twitching and status anxiety, but soon find friendship in the shape of the couple next door, alpha traffic cop Danny and his wife, glamorous yoga instructor Becka.

“As time goes on, these two couples get increasingly close to each other and, one fateful night, become sexually entangled in a way that will change their lives forever…”

We see all of that in the trailer, with Pete worrying that he and Evie are spending too much time with their neighbours. It also looks like Evie is a lot more into the idea of an open relationship than he is, and he’s struggling under the pressure of that.

Becka also looks upset at the situation, as she’s seen looking shocked at something she sees on social media, and then tearfully stating it’s “just lie after lie”. But who is she saying this to?

There’s also Hugh Dennis’ creepy neighbour who seems to be spying on everyone through his telescope, Danny warning Pete to stop looking into something as yet unknown, and an alarming scene of Evie running through some dark woods.
