BBC One’s twisty drama The Tourist has added several new cast members to season two.
Outlander newcomer Diarmaid Murtagh – who will replace Graham McTavish as Buck MacKenzie on the show’s seventh season – is among six new stars joining Jamie Dornan and Danielle Macdonald for The Tourist’s second outing, according to Variety.
The Fall’s Conor MacNeill, Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Olwen Fouéré, Justice League’s Francis Magee, One of Us Is Lying’s Mark McKenna and Neon’s Nessa Matthews have also signed up for the series, though their exact roles haven’t been disclosed yet.
Season two, which starts filming in Dublin this week, will shift the story from the Australian Outback to Ireland as an amnesia-afflicted Elliot (Dornan) and probationary constable Helen (Macdonald) attempt to track down Elliot’s family.
However, the pair soon find themselves in the midst of a family feud, and Elliot’s shady past catches up with him.
The show’s writers, Harry and Jack Williams, said in a statement: “We’re so excited to take Elliot and Helen to Ireland, where they will meet a host of dark and off beat new characters. With a stellar cast to match, we can’t wait for it all to be brought to life.”
Dornan previously teased that season two could also involve some flashbacks, providing viewers with glimpses of Elliot’s before the events of season one.
“There are conversations about how you continue the story – is it set before or after what we’ve already seen? It’s definitely all up for discussion,” he said back in December, adding: “I really like playing the character and I think there’s more to explore.”
