Outlander fans get ready because it is about to be an Outlander-themed autumn and you’re not going to want to miss it. While Season 8 of the original series is most likely set to premiere at the end of 2025, it has just been confirmed that its spinoff, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, will be releasing late this summer and early fall.

When will ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ premiere?
If you are an Outlander fan, you’ve likely been patiently waiting to find out when the new spinoff is coming to town and we have some good news for you. Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on August 8, 2025, on Starz.

The first season will consist of 10 episodes, which will air weekly on Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT in the U.S. and at 9 p.m. ET/PT in Canada.

What is ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ about?
The spinoff will be a prequel to the original Outlander series, following two separate romances: Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), who are the parents of Claire Beauchamp, and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), the parents of Jamie Fraser. Their stories will also be set in two different time periods.

According to the show’s official logline, the series will bring viewers from “the war-torn battlefields of WWI to the sweeping Highlands of 18th century Scotland, promising two new love stories filled with loyalty, passion and desire, as the young couples defy the forces that seek to tear them apart.”

Who stars in the ‘Outlander’ spinoff?
Along with the core four that the series will focus on, the prequel has a hefty cast, including Tony Curran as Lord Lovat, Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie and Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood, from Sony Pictures Television, is being developed by Matthew B. Roberts, who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. Alongside him will be Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis and Jim Kohlberg as executive producers.

Will ‘Outlander’ Season 8 air before the spinoff?
While news of the spinoff’s release date is a good thing, it also means that the end of Outlander is near. The series, which first premiered in 2014, has confirmed that Season 8 will be its last.

Although there is no official release date for the final season of Outlander, it is expected to premiere in late 2025 or early 2026, marking the end of an 11-year run.
