Taskmaster star Greg Davies’s dark comedy The Cleaner season 2 will feature guest appearances from stars of House of the Dragon and Outlander, among other top names.
The BBC One comedy series will return later this year, as crime scene cleaner Paul ‘Wicky’ Wickstead (Davies) is assigned to all manner of troubling cases that will boggle the mind.
As always, Wicky gets far too involved into the worlds of those he meets in the theatres, stately homes and stores he’s supposed to be disinfecting with his heavy-duty chemicals.
This time around, the star-studded guest cast includes John MacMillan from the Game of Thrones prequel show and Mark Lewis Jones from Outlander, plus Zoë Wanamaker (Doctor Who), Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing), Dame Harriet Walter (Succession), Simon Callow (Inside No. 9) and Alex Lawther (Star Wars: Andor).
“I’m so thrilled that Wicky is back for another round of clean ups and delighted that he is doing so on BBC One,” Davies said. “The cast for this series are brilliant and that there are so many distinguished actors amongst them leads me to believe that The BBC have secrets that they are using as leverage. Me, the writing and production teams are very grateful for this support.”
Rounding off the guest cast for season 2 will be Susannah Fielding (This Time With Alan Partridge), Roisin Conaty (After Life), Rudi Dharmalingam (Our Girl), Joshua McCord (The Tuckers), Louis Emerick (Coronation Street), Amy Morgan (No Time to Die) and legendary pop star Shakin’ Stevens, among others.
BBC Commissioning Editor Ben Caudell announced: “It’s fantastic to see such a compelling line-up of guest stars in this new second series of The Cleaner, each creating a unique comic character to lock horns and spar with Greg as Wicky. Every episode is a terrific TV treat.”
Transmission details for The Cleaner will be announced in due course.
