Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan have offered a story update on season 7 part 2, confirming that Claire and Jamie are going to be separated after their trip to Scotland.
Outlander season 7 part 1 ended with the couple alongside Ian (John Bell) making their way to Jamie’s original homeland, following conflict that ensued due to the American Revolutionary War happening at the time. The rest of season 7 is expected to follow author Diana Gabaldon’s book An Echo in the Bone, which will see even more changes happening for the main duo.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Balfe and Heughan confirmed that Claire and Jamie will be separated in Outlander season 7 part 2, with Claire going back to the colonies after getting an important request as a surgeon. The actors also explained she will believe a horrible event has transpired, teasing the “emotional rollercoaster” those who haven’t read the source material are about to embark upon. Check out what Balfe and Heughan had to say below:
Caitriona Balfe: There is some heartbreak. When they get there, life has moved on and there may be some exits. But then Claire quite quickly has to leave again. She is needed back in the colonies. She gets a request to come and help somebody as only she can — the wonderful surgeon she is. When the Frasers are not together, things don’t always go very well.
Sam Heughan: This is not good. Claire believes an event happens, which is devastating. It’s not an easy time for the Fraser family, that’s for sure. But there’s so much for the book fans to look forward to, and if you don’t know the books, prepare yourself for a really emotional rollercoaster.
Caitriona Balfe: This is a very tricky time politically, and Claire has her loyalties and her allegiances. There may be a little bit of political intrigue and on top of everything else, she may or may not do some spying.
