The actor who appears to play Claire Fraser in the popular period drama, posted a selfie with her ‘dreamboat’ co-star on set.
Outlander star Caitriona Balfe reunited with her ‘first love’ on the set of season six as she gave fans a behind-the-scenes update.
The Irish actress, who plays Claire Fraser in the popular period drama, posted a selfie with her ‘dreamboat’ co-star – the horse she learned to ride on during the very first series of the show.
Posting to Instagram, the former model posed with the horse, named Travis, as she gave fans a glimpse into the filming of the highly anticipated upcoming season.
The 41-year-old joined the cast of Starz drama back in 2014 and was tasked with learning to ride a horse for the role.
In the first series, viewers saw her time travel to the Scottish Highlands in 1743, where horses were the main mode of transport.
It was there her character met and fell in love with Scottish actor Sam Heughan, 40, who plays her on-screen husband Jamie Fraser.
“My first [love]… Travis my season one dreamboat is back on set…” Caitriona wrote alongside a selfie with the horse.
The post sparked a frenzy online, with many fans excited to see the new series.
“Ohhh my gosh!! Thanks for this update! Be still me heart – indeed,” one wrote.
“Awww…what a reunion,” another added.
A third remarked: “Lovely to know he’s the same horse. What an incredible journey.”
“Can’t wait for it to come on TV,” a fourth fan exclaimed.
It comes after Outlander fans were overjoyed after the cast confirmed that they would be returning for a seventh season of the popular show.
Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin made a video on the official Outlander Instagram page to ‘end the speculation’ on whether the show would be returning.
Filming for the upcoming season six is currently in full swing.
