It’s been a busy month for Outlander star Caitriona Balfe as she attended red carpet events in California and the Republic of Ireland.

The 45-year-old was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series in the 30th Critics Choice Awards for her stunning portrayal of time-travelling nurse Clare Fraser. The former model didn’t disappoint fashion fans, turning up in the night in a Prada two piece, fitted with leather belt and silver hooks.

The film and TV awards were pushed back due to the LA wildfires before going ahead in Santa Monica on February 7. Sadly for Outlander fans, Caitriona missed out on the gong which went to Kathy Bates for Matlock.

Other shows with Scottish connections did well on the night though, notably Baby Reindeer which won Best Limited Series. Creator Richard Gadd, from Fife, missed out on Best Actor in a Limited Series but his co-star Jessica Gunning won the corresponding actress award.

Gadd lost out to Balfe’s fellow Irish star Colin Farrell who won for his portrayal of Oswald Cobb in The Penguin. The following week, the Irish A-listers were back home in Dublin for the Irish Film and Television Awards (known as the Iftas).

Outlander wasn’t nominated for any awards but Caitriona didn’t throw a celebrity strop. Instead, she turned up to present one of the biggest awards of the night – Best Drama, which went to black comedy Bad Sisters.

Wearing a stylish Loewe Spring 2025 white and black jacket and black trousers, she was asked about her 11 years on Outlander – with the eighth and final season now in the can and due to be screened next year.

She said: “Oh God, I learned everything on that show. My resume before I got that show was very, very short and 11 years later I feel like it’s just stretched me in so many different ways.

“The great thing about that genre is that it encompasses so many different things, you get to do everything, you get to do romance, action, it’s dramatic, it’s funny at times. It just asks a lot of you. It was an amazing experience and I feel very grateful and still a bit sad that it’s done.”
