Actor and author, Graham MacTavish, has announced that he’s released a seven year old bourbon whiskey, named McTavish.

Posting on his social media this week, he wrote: “For anyone who missed it, I’m beyond excited to announce my first bourbon whiskey. Modestly named “McTavish”. It’s a 7 yr Bottled in Bond online only for now in the US”

Last month, the actor posted a reel on his Instagram where he talked more about the whisky, and wrote: “Delighted to announce my very own Bourbon Whiskey. I think some of you have already guessed. I hope you like this particular Scotsman’s dream of America.”

In the accompanying video, McTavish talks about how this project has been a ‘dream since I was young, in Scotland and the journey I wanted to take in life…going to America and all the opportunities that gave me. And this really is the distillation of that experience.’

Bottled in Bond refers to strict legal guidelines that must be met for the whiskey to be called this. These include that it must be aged for at least four years and be bottled at 50% ABV.

Whisky tour
Posting on his Instagram recently, Graham revealed two UK dates, including one in Scotland, for his upcoming tour with McTavish Spirits.

He’ll be visiting St Andrews on 3 November, before heading to London on 7 November.

Graham isn’t the first star of the hit TV programme to release a spirit. Caitriona Balfe released a gin, Forget Me Not, in 2020 and Sam Heughan’s range of Sassenach spirits include The Sassenach whisky, released in 2020, Sassenach tequila, released in 2021 and Sassenach Wild Scottish Gin, released in 2023.

Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish recently released the second season of their Men in Kilts series, this time the duo explore New Zealand, after spending season one in Scotland.
