Sam Heughan is giving fans a much needed laugh going into the weekend.
The actor shared a series of outtakes from Outlander in the form of a blooper reel that’
sure to make even the most serious of Instagram scrollers crack a smile.
In a surprising twist, the clips all poke fun at co-star Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser), who
unable to keep it together during filming.
In several of the clips, all stitched together and set to a Scottish folk tune, Balfe is the
instigator of all the laughs and shenanigans on set. As she bursts into laughter-both in
her on-screen costume and in her regular attire while filming interviews-Heughan can
help but join in.
“Proof! @caitrionabalfe is a brilliant costar and terrible corpser!,” he began in the
caption, adding, “We’ve had a great year with plenty laughs, can’t wait to show you
Season 7!”

Fans were positively tickled with the clip, with one noting, “Your giggles are so
can’t wait for S7!!!!” as another one added, “Love the contagious
partnership behind and in front of the camera!!”
A third posed a valid question: “How do you guys get ANYthing done on set???!!!
While we may never know the true answer, it’s clear that despite the oftentimes serious
nature of the STARZ historical drama and time-travel romance, the actors never take
themselves too seriously.
With the cast in the thick of filming the seventh season, Heughan, who plays Jamie
Fraser, recently squeezed in some R&R in Miami, Florida, where he visited an eco-
adventure park and spent some time with fans while promoting Sassenach Blended
Scotch Whisky.
Season 7 of Outlander will be mainly based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel An Echo in the
Bone, which will find Jamie and Claire in the midst of the American Revolution with the
misfortune that Lord John Grey (David Berry) and his stepson William (Jamie’s
unacknowledged illegitimate son to be played by Canadian actor Charles Vandervaart)
are on the British side with William in the army and Lord John on the clandestine side of
intelligence.
It will span 16 episodes, making up for the shortened sixth season, which was reduced to
just eight episodes due to the difficulties of shooting under COVID-19 protocols, as well
as Balfe’s pregnancy.
No premiere date has been announced yet.
