Although Outlander fans may be facing another “Droughtlander,” Starz is offering a refreshing reprieve with a special new event celebrating both the flagship series and its upcoming prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood. The event, titled Outlander & Blood of My Blood: The Gathering, premiered on the Starz YouTube channel at 7/6c on Sunday, June 1, in honor of World Outlander Day.
This virtual gathering united the casts of both series for the first time, giving longtime fans a closer look at the characters from the upcoming prequel while reconnecting with their favorite stars from the original show. Based on the beloved book series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander has captivated audiences for years, and this new chapter promises to deepen its rich storytelling.
Ahead of the livestream, Starz released a teaser featuring leads Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan as they met with the actors portraying their on-screen parents in the prequel. While Claire and Jamie have long been the heart of Outlander, Blood of My Blood will shift the focus to the romances of their parents.
Set in two different time periods, the prequel will follow Julia Moriston (played by Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) in World War I England, and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) in 18th-century Scotland. The special event served as a kind of Fraser, MacKenzie, and Beauchamp family reunion, allowing cast members to reflect on the journey of the franchise and offer a glimpse into what’s ahead.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood is officially set to premiere on August 8, ushering in a new chapter steeped in love, history, and legacy.
In addition to Balfe and Heughan, the livestream featured appearances from series regulars Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, Charles Vandervaart, David Berry, Lauren Lyle, Izzy Meikle-Small, and Tony Curran, along with executive producers Matthew B. Roberts and Maril Davis.
World Outlander Day, the occasion for this celebration, marks the anniversary of the release of Gabaldon’s first novel in the Outlander book series, which inspired the hit television franchise.
Fans can catch the full event on Starz’s YouTube channel and should stay tuned for more news surrounding both Outlander and its much-anticipated prequel in the coming months.
