Outlander fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the stars to the small screen in the eighth and final series, however a few familiar faces won’t be returning for the final episodes

Fans of Outlander are eagerly anticipating the eighth season of the show despite it being the final one. The seventh series concluded last month, and viewers are now awaiting a release date for the last season, which has already been filmed and will be missing two major storylines.

While some familiar faces will be returning for the final series, there are certain fan favorites who won’t be making a comeback.

According to Just Jared, several characters won’t be returning – including Irish actress Caitriona Balfe who reflected on her role in the hit series in a recent interview – so let’s see who we shouldn’t expect in season eight.

Jenny Murray – Kristin Atherton

Kristin Atherton, who took over the role of Jenny Murray from Laura Donnelly due to other work commitments, won’t be returning.

Co-showrunner Matthew B. confirmed that after the death of Jenny’s husband Ian in the last series, Jamie invited his grieving sister to stay with him and Claire in North Carolina, but she chose to remain in Scotland.

Frank / Black Jack Randall – Tobias Menzies

Tobias Menzies, known for his roles as Frank / Black Jack Randall and his appearances in The Crown, has confirmed he won’t be appearing in the final series.

This isn’t surprising since both of his characters have been dead since seasons three (Black Jack) and four (Frank), although he has returned for flashback scenes since their deaths. Silvia Presente won’t be reprising her role as Jane Pocock, reports the Daily Record.

Jane Pocock – Silvia Presente

Outlander enthusiasts surely recall the heart-wrenching moments from the season seven finale when Jane ended her life. Silvia, the actress behind the role, expressed her gratitude on Instagram to fans, fellow cast members, and the crew for their support.

She wrote: “Over n out s7. Thank you thank you thank you @glenmariani for trusting me to find Jane and letting me be part of this incredible experience And finally, @charles_vandervaart for being a quality scene partner and ray of sunshine – big up uncs @outlander_starz @starz it’s been a pleasure.”
