While fans have already been standing by for the arrival of Outlander season 6, Sam Heughan announced on Instagram recently that another wait has just begun.
The 41-year-old actor, who famously plays Jamie Fraser on the hit Starz show, shared on his Instagram page Wednesday a sad update for those hoping to grab a bottle of his very own Sassenach blended scotch whiskey in the United States. The name “Sassenach,” of course, comes from what Jamie in the show lovingly calls his wife Claire, played by Caitríona Balfe.
As explained in his recent post, the brand had initially planned to release The Sassenach Spirit of Home Edition on August 25, but due to shipping delays stemming from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic worldwide, that date has been pushed back. A new release date will be announced soon, but in the meantime, Sam joked in his caption, “It’s on its WAYYYYYHEY!!!!! 🙌🥃🥃🥃.”

Fans immediately expressed their disappointment in the comments section while also making it clear they are excited to get their hands on a bottle soon. “Oh no!!! I’m down to my last few drops.. but worth the wait. 😍,” one fan wrote, to which Sam himself replied, “I think they’ll last, won’t be long!x.” Another noted, “This is sad news but a super fun animation!” Someone else said, “I’ve been counting the days and I was so excited to get my order in 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.”
While fans in the U.S. wait patiently to stock up their Sassenach supply, they might take comfort knowing that there are other Sassenach products to shop, including a scarf, hat, hip flask, whisky glasses and more. Holiday gift ideas, anyone?
As for that other wait, it’s expected that season 6 of Outlander will start airing in early 2022. When season 6 returns, it will only have eight episodes, though Sam promised previously in a tweet that season 7 would be “extended.” The cast wrapped up shooting season 6 on June 1.
In other words, like the scotch, new Outlander episodes are on the “WAYYYYYHEY!!!!!”
