Peacemaker season two has received a big update, as James Gunn has revealed that filming has begun.

Over the weekend, the writer and head of the new DC Universe shared a photo to Instagram of himself reflected in Peacemaker’s recognisable helmet. “Day 1 S2,” he wrote.

John Cena shared another photo of the helmet shortly before Gunn’s post, although this time it was outside in a woodland setting.

As well as a second season of Peacemaker, a spin-off series called Waller is also in the works, focusing on Amanda Waller, the morally dubious government official who first put the Suicide Squad together.

“So this is Viola Davis. She’s coming back as her character, Amanda Waller,” Gunn said back when it was announced. “This is also going to have some of Team Peacemaker in it, as the regulars on the show. This basically follows up to Peacemaker and is going to be done.

“[We] have this incredibly marvelous story worked out that I think is really fantastic and HBO loves. So they’re putting this all together.”

As well as these TV projects, Gunn is in charge of pretty much all future DC movies going forward, starting off with a new take on Superman.

A month and a half back, Gunn announced the start of filming and a title change for the Man of Steel’s latest outing, writing: “Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday.

“When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025.”
