Peaky Blinders spoilers for the final episode follow.
Peaky Blinders has revealed some brand new teaser pictures ahead of the drama’s eagerly-anticipated final episode this weekend, and they seem to promise that there won’t be a let-up in the action before the series is over.
The sixth and final episode of season six of the BBC drama, which is titled ‘Lock and Key’, will immerse us in the lives of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and the gang for one last time (until the promised movie is released, at least), and we’ve now got some hints about what to expect.
Radio Times has shared the following synopsis of the finale: “A war veteran who fought in the trenches, Tommy Shelby has been a gangster, an entrepreneur, a captain of industry, a spy and ultimately a Member of Parliament.
“In the course of this odyssey, he has taken on numerous criminal organisations, business adversaries, foreign insurgents, and the British Establishment itself.
“Now, in the 1930s, as the clouds of the coming storm gather, he faces the consequences of his experiences and his actions.”
Among the finale photos that have been released are several shots of Tommy in the House of Commons, including one of him making a rousing speech and one that shows him sitting alone and looking contemplative.
There is also another picture of him looking into the distance, while another shows him sitting in a darkened pub alongside Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson).
What exactly lies ahead for Tommy remains a mystery, although there is every chance that he may not have all that long left to live.
Also pictured in the House of Commons in the set of finale photos is Sam Claflin’s fascist leader Sir Oswald Mosley, who looks like he means business. But will he be able to take Tommy down in this final episode?
His partner Diana Mitford (Amber Anderson) is also pictured, looking rather pleased with herself. After her sneaky actions last week, does Diana have any new tricks up her sleeve?
The final preview image shows Tommy’s newly discovered son, Duke Shelby (Conrad Khan), looking up towards the sky, deep in thought. With Duke potentially representing the future of the Shelby clan, what position will he end up in as the series bows out?
Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne recently shared some teasers about what we can expect from the final episode, which will be an extended 81-minute edition.
“It feels very, very different to the rest of the season,” he said. “It feels very, very different to anything we’ve done before. It’s very epic in scope. It feels like a film – it’s a kind of dry run for the feature film.”
Peaky Blinders series 6 airs on Sundays at 9pm.
