Peaky Blinders’ sixth and final season is getting closer and closer, and the BBC has now released some first-look images of Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby.
Three new pictures have been revealed, ahead of the drama’s much-anticipated return this month.
The upcoming batch of episodes also feature Line of Duty star Stephen Graham playing a mysterious new character, while The Queen’s Gambit’s Anya Taylor-Joy is returning as Gina Grey and Tom Hardy is also back as Alfie Solomons, although he’s looking quite worse for wear compared to when we last saw him.
Unfortunately, it looks like actress Helen McCrory didn’t get to film anything for series 6 before her tragic death, although Murphy has insisted that she will definitely be there in spirit.
“What I always feel sad about is that we were about to shoot and then the pandemic happened and we had to stop,” he previously said. “If we had shot then, Helen would’ve been in the show, and that makes me feel sad.
“It’s a huge loss; it’s hard to comprehend it. Because she was the matriarch of the whole thing. As the character, but just also as her personality.”
The BBC has confirmed that the final season will premiere in February, although we’re almost halfway through the month and we don’t have a concrete date yet.
As far as the plot goes, we know that a large focus of it will be the clash between Tommy and Sam Claflin’s evil fascist Oswald Mosley. Murphy previously described these episodes as “very intense”, but interestingly also used the word “gothic”.
Peaky Blinders season 6 will premiere later in February on BBC One.
