According to sources, Pedro Pascal, the star of HBO’s hit series The Last of Us, is in final talks to join the untitled Gladiator sequel for Paramount during the show’s hiatus.

Paul Mescal is set to play Lucius, and Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, Connie Nielsen, Denzel Washington, and Pascal’s role are yet to be revealed. Ridley Scott, who directed the original, will return as director, and the film is set to premiere on November 22, 2024.

The first Gladiator movie earned over $460 million in global box office sales and won five out of 12 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

Pascal has become a sought-after actor after his standout performance in Game of Thrones, and his star has risen even higher since The Last of Us became one of HBO’s most popular shows. In addition to his role in The Last of Us, Pascal has also reprised his role in The Mandalorian and will appear in Pedro Almodovar’s short film Strange Way of Life, Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls, and Anna Boden’s Freaky Tales later this year.

He is also in the running for an Emmy this awards season. Pascal is represented by CAA and Kimberly Jaime at Jackoway Austen.
