Riverdale season 7 has brought in Nicholas Barasch to play Cheryl Blossom’s “extremely entitled” twin brother named Julian.

Ahead of the teen drama’s final episodes, Deadline broke the news of two major casting additions, with Barasch and Karl Walcott joining the cast that includes the likes of Lili Reinhart and KJ Apa.

“Handsome, athletic and cocky”, Julian fits into the category of “your classic high school red-headed bully”, who “makes life miserable for everyone around him” if he doesn’t get his own way, and will enter as an antagonist to each and every Riverdale kid.

Walcott, meanwhile, will play “teen renaissance man” Clay Walker.

“He is studious, artistic, well-read, and well-travelled,” teased a description. “An Army brat, Clay comes from a loving family and is a champion for social justice. He is very open-minded in his art and his sexuality.”

Mirroring the original Riverdale comics, Clay is set to have an impactful friendship with fellow LGBTQ+ character Kevin Keller, played in the series by Casey Cott.

Earlier this month, Cheryl actress Madelaine Petsch suggested that season 7 will “shake things up” massively.

“There is one pretty major thing in [Cheryl’s] family life that’s bizarre and amazing. Other than that, this season is very grounded and focused around relationships,” she said.

“You’re really getting what made the show so special in season one, which was the relationships in the town. This season is more pared down with the craziness, but there are some bizarre things happening.”

Riverdale airs on The CW in the US and will end with season 7. In the UK, you can stream via Netflix.
