Outlander fans celebrated Sam Heughan’s ‘castversary’ to mark eight years to the day he was cast as Jamie Fraser on the hit show.
The Scots actor, who plays Highland warrior Jamie, responded to a post by a fan who congratulated him on eight years of gracing TV screens.
The fan shared the original Tweet by producers Starz from 2013, with an incredible pic of a very young-looking Sam when he was first announced as the chosen actor.
Posting on his official Twitter page, Sam wrote: “Awww thank you all for supporting us and making the job so worthwhile! What a journey, what a character! Most thanks to Gabs herself.”

Fans flocked to congratulate him and thank him for his excellent work on their favourite show.
One wrote: “Thanks for bringing to life Jamie Fraser, one of the best protagonists ever written.”
While another added: “Your respect for @Writer_DG ’s iconic character, your attention to detail, and your considerable talent – has made your portrayal of Jamie Fraser iconic, as well. You brought Jamie to life in a way no one else could. Thank you!”
Others described his performances as “Flawless”, “Perfection” and even “life-changing.”
The Balmaclellan-born actor recently announced that he will be funding a 10-year programme to allow aspiring artists to follow in his footsteps at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he graduated with a BA in Acting in 2003.
With three annual scholarships for undergraduate students in the School of Drama, Dance, Production and Film.
He was also spotted out on the road around Scotland as he wowed fans with pics for his latest Sassenach Whisky campaign.
The Outlander star was photographed posing with his custom Harley Davidson bike in front of some spectacular Scottish scenery.
