Stranger Things season 4 could be hitting Netflix this July, if a fan theory proves accurate.
In the latest teaser trailer, released back in autumn, a Surfer Boy Pizza truck slides off-road for a split second, with the company’s contact number visible as ‘805-45-PIZZA’.
Over on Reddit, fans shared their experiences of ringing this number, which apparently led some towards “Happy birthday music” – one person suggested this tune could be a clue connected to a season 3 episode originally titled ‘The Birthday’.
Another fast-thinking user expressed their belief that this “could be related to the show’s anniversary”, meaning the fourth season would premiere on July 15.
“AND July 15th is a Friday. WHOA!” responded someone else, which is of course a reference to the streaming giant’s penchant for big releases on Fridays.
Could this lot be onto something? We’ll find out soon enough.
Meanwhile, the sci-fi phenomenon’s executive producer Shawn Levy previously announced that this is the “most ambitious” season yet.
“Season 4 was built to be by far the most ambitious, cinematic, sprawling and epic season that we’ve ever done. By not just a little – by a lot.
“So the complexity of season 4, even before we had the obstacles, hurdles and challenges of a pandemic, is taking a lot of time because it is super worth the wait,” he explained.
There’s plenty more in the pipeline too, as Netflix boss Ted Sarandos has hinted that Stranger Things spin-offs are in development behind the scenes.
Stranger Things seasons 1-3 are now streaming on Netflix, and season 4 is due to premiere in summer 2022.
