A prequel story for Stranger Things will feature fan-favourite Eddie Munson, with the character set to return on the page.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the kooky metalhead will be getting an origin story in Flight of Icarus, a novel set two years before the events of the fourth season.
The story sees Eddie, who was played by Joseph Quinn on the Netflix show, attempt to forge a musical future with his band, Corroded Coffin, before his graduation from Hawkins High in the summer.
After meeting record producer Paige at a local dive bar, Eddie is tasked with recording a demo tape for her listening, but his only way of making enough money is to partake in shady deals with his father, Al.
The novel, which is due to be released on October 31, is being written by Caitlin Schneiderhan, who is set to be involved in the writing process for the fifth and final season of the show.
Our very own Caitlin Schneiderhan wrote this!!! (Fun fact: she is also responsible for starting this account). Cannot wait for you to read! https://t.co/2dIS0Sw7SG

“The Eddie Munson we meet at the beginning of Stranger Things 4 is the protective shepherd to the nerdy lost sheep of Hawkins High. But taking on that mantle wasn’t such a cut-and-dry decision,” she said of the new prequel.
“I’m so excited for fans to go with him on his journey towards becoming a hero, to experience the messy and uncomfortable decisions that led him to become the brave misfit we all know and love.”
Flight of Icarus isn’t the only spin-off to be announced in recent times, with series creators The Duffer Brothers announcing an animated show earlier this week.
“We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realised has been absolutely thrilling,” they said of the currently untitled project. “The scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”
In addition to the animated series, a theatre production titled The First Shadow was announced last month, with the action set to take place in Hawkins in 1959.
