Supernatural actor Misha Collins enjoys April Fools’ Day, and he just celebrated it with a non-surprising, yet exciting post. The actor played one of the show’s main characters, Castiel, joining the long-running series in Season 4. On April 1, Collins hopped on social media to share fake reboot news for The CW fantasy show Supernatural.

The fake article, called “Supernatural Resurrection,” looked like a Variety piece that announced a new version of Supernatural. The alleged article read, “This reboot of Supernatural will be a bold take on the series, featuring an all-female cast. Samantha, Deanna, and Cass will be supported by their friends Alexa and Bobbi.” Among the alleged changes included AI usage, “more nudity than in The Boys” for Ackles’ character, and no Misha Collins as Castiel: “Misha who?”

On his post, Collins tagged Supernatural creator Eric Kripke to congratulate him. “Congrats, @erickripke1! I’ve got to say, I’m a bit disappointed that it sounds like I won’t be a part of this, but I hope it’s a hit.”

Fans quickly jumped in to comment about the possible reboot, before remembering that it was April Fools. “Us before we remembered what day it was,” one X user posted with a GIF showing a surprised Dean Winchester. Another wrote, “Why do you love giving us heart attacks,” with others begging Collins to accept that it was a prank: “okay jokes over u can say april fools now misha.”

This isn’t the first time Misha Collins has joined in the fun on April Fools’ Day. In 2013, the actor was the muse for the #Mishapocalypse movement, where social media users decided to change all their profile pictures to one of Collins taken during a panel at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con. The actor didn’t leave the event slide, writing on X: “The #mishapocalypse is worse than an ordinary apocalypse. I’ve signed up for facial identity surgery so I never have to see that face again.”

Will There Be a Supernatural Revival?

Supernatural ran for 15 seasons on The CW before its finale in 2020. However, the Supernatural series finale wasn’t a huge hit with the fans, which could allow a reboot to retcon the ending. Following the end of the series, there have been hints or conversations that led fans to believe a reunion is in the cards.

Lead actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles addressed the reboot in late 2023 at the Creation Honolulu convention. Ackles then confirmed that there are active talks about potentially bringing back Supernatural, telling fans of the series to “stay tuned.” “I have some ideas, and I hope that now that the writers are back, and the actors are back, that we all get together,” Padalecki had said.

However, the latest update about the revival came from CW’s President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz, who denied any formal talks. “We’ve had no discussions about any kind of spinoff,” Schwartz said. “Supernatural was one of the Top 10 most-streamed shows last year. And it’s an incredible franchise with an incredible legacy, incredible history. We’re really excited about the new season of Walker with Jared [Padalecki].”
