Supernatural star Misha Collins has clarified comments that appeared to imply that he is bisexual.
The actor, who played angel Castiel on the CW series, has posted several tweets to clear up the reporting around comments he made at Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural Official Convention.
It appeared as if he’d come out as bisexual live on stage, but Collins now clarifies: “I want to deeply apologize for misspeaking this weekend. At a fan convention in New Jersey, when I was talking with the audience I said that I was ‘all three’ things: an introvert, an extrovert and a bisexual.
“My clumsy intention was to wave off actually discussing my sexuality, but I badly fumbled that and understand that was seen as me coming out as bisexual.”
The actor added that he felt it was important to “correct the record” so as not to “falsely co-opt the struggles of the LGBTQIA+ community”.
“I believe and fully support that we need to sanctify the human right to express our identities honestly and to be free to love whomever we choose openly,” he tweeted.
“I am deeply sorry for the clumsiness of my language. I want to be a better ally and I feel sick to my stomach that I might have done anything to make things worse. I’m trying to learn, trying to do better and I will keep listening. Thanks and I’m sorry.”

As mentioned, the actor had appeared to come out as bisexual while speaking at Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural Official Convention in Secaucus, New Jersey on Saturday (April 23).
According to a video shared on Twitter by a fan, Collins surveyed the audience, asking them if they considered themselves introverts, extroverts, and bisexuals, with fans going wild at the latter.
“I’m all three,” Collins simply added, waving his hand.
“See, it would have been weird if I just said: ‘By a show of hands, how many bisexuals are in the audience?’
“But I’d rather do it as a questionnaire and that’s totally acceptable.”
Last month, the actor shared some news when he revealed he had been cast in an upcoming Batman sequel series.
Collins will play classic Batman villain Harvey Dent aka Two-Face in Gotham Knights, a series set in Gotham following the murder of Bruce Wayne. The show will centre on Wayne’s adopted son (Oscar Morgan) as he teams up with the children of Batman’s enemies after they’ve all been framed for his death.
The Supernatural star announced his involvement in the project by posting a picture of an action figure of Dent on Instagram and joking that his version of the character “could be wearing a beige trench coat over the grey suit”, much like Castiel.
