Call Me Kat has had its future confirmed by network Fox, and it’s not good news. The sitcom, starring The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik, had aired for three seasons before its cancellation was announced the day after the season 3 finale.
In a statement about the show, which is largely based on Miranda, Fox said (via TheWrap): “We are very proud of Call Me Kat. But, unfortunately, the audience response to it was not as strong as we had hoped.
“We are thankful for our partnership with Warner Bros Television, That’s Wonderful Productions, Sad Clown Productions, BBC Studios, Mayim Bialik, Jim Parsons and the entire cast and crew for their work and dedication to Call Me Kat.”
It was noted that, in terms of ratings for the initial broadcast, the season 3 finale has the second-lowest number of viewers the show had ever seen.
In the episode, Kat supported Max when he received the offer of a lifetime to go and support a major country music star on tour. Him putting his career above his relationship has constantly been an issue for the couple, but he promised that once he returned from his current tour, he would commit to making things work between them.
Carter and Randi, meanwhile, decided they didn’t want a quick wedding and decided to take their time and plan a traditional ceremony. Now it looks like fans will just have to imagine what that looks like.
The episode, and now the show itself, ended with the cast and crew waving goodbye to viewers, with Cheyenne Jackson sporting a T-shirt adorned with the face of cast member Leslie Jordan, who sadly passed away last year.
