The Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar has landed the leading role in The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, an on-screen adaption of the New York Times best-selling novel by Gabrielle Zevin of the same name.
The project has also cast Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale and Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks.
Hans Canosa will serve as director and Zevin has adapted her novel for screen, while David Garrett (Mister Smith Entertainment) is set to promote the project to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Virtual Market.
Speaking about the project (via Deadline), Garrett said: “The reason this is such a wonderful story with such great characters, is that the script is hewn from the most wonderful source material.
“It shines light on those connections which are at the heart of all human relationships in such a joyous and life-affirming fashion.”
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry follows the life of A.J. Filkry (played by Nayyar) – A.J’s life isn’t what he expected. During a particularly difficult time he becomes widowed and is struggling with his business as his bookstore experiences the worst sales in its history.
Additionally, his favourite item and most prized possession, which is a rare edition of Poe poems, has been stolen. Left feeling defeated, A.J. has given up, but that all changes when he receives a mysterious package. When the parcel arrives at his shop, it gives A.J. an opportunity to change his life and see things from a new perspective.
