Vought Rising, the upcoming prequel to The Boys, has cast Elizabeth Posey in a leading role alongside Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash.

The Prime Video series will serve as an origin story to Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Cash’s Stormfront as well as Vought International, with the narrative being a murder-mystery in 1950s New York City.

Now, as reported by Deadline, Ackles and Cash have company, with Posey joining the cast in a leading yet “undisclosed role.” Though there are no details regarding her role, Posey has some impressive credits including Euphoria, Heels and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Vought Rising, which was announced back in July, will be executively produced by Paul Grellong and Eric Kripke, the latter of whom also serves as showrunner. In a joint statement, the pair called the show “deranged” and twisted.”

“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys,” they said. “It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s [and] the early exploits of Soldier Boy.

“[It will also depict] the diabolical manoeuvres of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”

Vought Rising isn’t the only spin-off to the superhero show in the pipeline, with The Boys: Mexico – which reportedly stars Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal – currently in the works, with the pair of projects coming alongside the second season of Gen V.

As for the main show in the franchise, work on the fifth and final season is currently underway, with Karl Urban – who plays Billy Butcher – recently sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from the set as he was pictured behind the wheel of a vehicle.
