After five seasons, The Boys will be coming to an end. However, a new adaptation from its creator is in the works for fans to anticipate after the fifth and final season of The Boys on Prime Video.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed a major update on Crossed, a new feature film that’s in development. It is based on the post-apocalyptic comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis, who created The Boys with illustrator Darick Robertson. Reportedly, the ensemble cast will be led by Devin Druid (13 Reasons Why) and Ash Santos (American Horror Story). The two will be playing Stan and Cindy, characters who are featured in the original comic book story.
Several other cast members have also been revealed. They include Owen Harn (Cobra Kai) as the villain Horsecock, the leader of the infected, who’s joined by Fedor Steer (Haunted Mansion) as Face and Kelvin Adekunle (City of Love) as Stump. Angie Campbell is also playing Amy and Peter Falls will play Joe.
Other additions as fellow survivors on the run include Ethan Jones Romero (Law & Order) as Thomas, Kyle Hee (Psychosis) as Kelly, Chido Nwokocha (Top Gun: Maverick) as Kitrick, Spenser Granese (Dope Thief) as Brett, Bob Morley (The 100) as Randall, Ana Mulvoy Ten (American Crime) as Sheena, Steven Hack (Little Death) as Geoff, and Lorenzo Ross as Patrick.
Ennis penned the screenplay for the Crossed movie. Rob Jabbaz is directing.
“Fans of Crossed have speculated on our cast for some time, and in the spirit of helping all Crossed fans survive the coming apocalypse, we are pleased to reveal our exceptional cast who are bringing Garth’s thrilling and horror-filled comic series to life on screen,” producer Carl Choi of Six Studios said about the news.
The ultra-violent comic book first debuted in 2008, spanning ten issues before concluding in 2010. It tells the story of a world where humanity has been ravaged by a pandemic that causes those infected to become extremely homicidal, bringing out their most sadistic urges. Infected carriers of the “Crossed” virus have a rash that’s in the shape of a cross that adorns their faces. The contagion is spread through bodily fluids, so, like zombies, bites are still concerning, though they may also be the least of what people have to fear when faced with the Crossed.
The Boys Franchise Continues to Expand
Spinoff shows will also help keep The Boys around even after its fifth season wraps up the original show. The spinoff series, Gen V, could potentially be around for a while to come if it finds continued success. Another spinoff, Vought Rising, will serves as a prequel, bringing back Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront.
