The Flash season 8 spoilers follow.
After The Flash aired its latest season finale, its showrunner Eric Wallace has weighed in on the chance of any spinoffs moving forward.
At present, with the show having been renewed for a ninth season, it doesn’t look like this is a possibility the creative forces behind the show are exploring.
“No, because you really don’t start looking at spinoffs until you think you’re not coming back, and I’m not thinking that way,” Wallace told Deadline.
“Now, having said that, obviously… we’ve introduced a lot of characters over the last couple of seasons… I would say to the audience, if you have some characters that we have introduced in the last few years that you want to see in a spinoff, you should write to The CW.
“But I’m going to just stay focused on The Flash right now before I start focusing on anything else.”
The season eight finale has seen Barry Allen aka The Flash (Grant Gustin) battling his longtime enemy Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh) for what seems to be the last time.
Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) was also revealed to be alive after Barry feared he might have been tricked into killing her when Deon (Christian Magby) put her in the way of Flash’s lightning.
While it seems unlikely for Reverse-Flash to return next season, it’s pretty safe to say that the negative forces are in need of a new avatar to maintain the balance of the universe.
The Flash airs on The CW in the US. Sky Showcase and NOW air the show in the UK.\
