The Last of Us season 2 is shifting production from Calgary to Vancouver, meaning it’ll likely follow the video game beat by beat.
News of the post-apocalyptic gem’s location move was shared by Deadline, with filming hopefully going ahead before the turn of the year, according to star Bella Ramsey.
For those who’ve jumped into the beloved PlayStation games, you’ll know that The Last of Us: Part II takes hardened survivors Joel and Ellie to the Pacific Northwest in the wake of their close scrape with the Fireflies.
That’s not all we know about the already highly-anticipated second season, either, as co-creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin recently teased some changes ahead.
“You can expect us to repeat the same process, which is we will look at what made that story special and what is the soul of that story. And that needs to remain intact,” began the former.
“And then the moment-to-moment beats and characters, they might stay the same, they might change. We will do what needs to happen to that story as it transfers from one medium to another.”
Mazin, who gave us the chilling limited series Chernobyl back in 2019, went on to share: “We will also take advantage of the freedom we have in television that wasn’t there in the game, specifically the advantage of changing perspective.
“So, we will use what we can use in a new medium to tell that story and we will go through the same process of adaptation. It’s us again and there will be Pedro [Pascal] and there will be Bella. And there will be blood.”
