In today’s television landscape, the chances of popular shows expanding into full-fledged universes are higher than ever. For Outlander fans, this possibility feels more real than ever, especially following the recent spin-off Outlander: Blood of My Blood. With just one episode left in the series, its impressive 91% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes underscores that Diana Gabaldon’s world still has plenty of stories to tell.

While fans and critics may clamor for more, getting the official green light is another matter entirely. In a recent interview, showrunner Matthew B. Roberts offered an encouraging glimpse into the potential for further expansions in the Outlander universe. “I think there’s characters within the Outlander universe that definitely intrigue me and I’d love to see more of them,” Roberts said. “I have to just go with myself, as if I want to see more of them, I think there’s fans who would want to see more of them.” He added, “I’m not going to tell you who, that’ll be our next interview when we’re doing that show! But yeah, we have this main Outlander river and there’s many tributaries that can sustain shows.”

The ‘Blood of My Blood’ Finale Promises an Emotional Ride

The Blood of My Blood finale is just over a week away, and after the explosive penultimate episode on September 26, the stage is set for a memorable conclusion to Season 1. Fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the show’s return has already been confirmed, securing the future of this new series.

But what can viewers expect from the finale? According to Roberts, prepare for an emotional journey. He told Collider, “Always have a box of Kleenex, that’s for sure. I do think there’s a sense of hope in all these episodes, in a weird way.” He continued:

“There are a lot of emotions in the finale. I think you’ll be all over the place. After it ends, you might be a slight wreck, which is what I want. There are so many emotions flying around, but at the end, when you finally see those credits roll, I want you to go, ‘Oh, my God, I can’t wait for Season 2!'”
