The Walking Dead season 10 episode 18 spoilers follow.

The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus has revealed that he was “super nervous” about the season 9 time jump for one particular reason.

In the latest episode ‘Find Me’, which airs in the UK tonight (March 8), viewers found out what his character Daryl Dixon got up to in the woods after splitting from the main group of survivors to look for Rick Grimes. For the first time in the show’s history, he had a love interest, Lynn Collins’ cabin dweller Leah.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actor shared his initial reaction to the plot, and how he has been “fighting having something like this happen since day one”.

“We had a little talk about it. I was super nervous,” he said. “And you never know what to expect with those things.

“So I just wanted to stay true to Daryl, and depending on what happens next, you kind of have to play it a certain way or otherwise something else might not work later. So I tiptoed around [the writers] as much as possible.”

Meanwhile, Reedus also referenced how the pandemic-affected shoot made thing even trickier while planning for the storyline.

“It was kind of an idea that was put on paper in front of me before I knew about it and I didn’t know how to react,” he noted.

“And then I had many questions, but then we were also in a pandemic trying to shoot this and it was just full steam ahead and I wasn’t quite sure what was going to happen.”

With these dramatic changes to contend with, Reedus went on to praise his co-star Collins for helping the experience go smoothly.

“We were filming it and it had moments,” he explained. “And I really like the girl that’s playing Leah. She’s really good. And her story will go other places, but I was like, ‘Look, Daryl’s really not that smooth in that world. The sweetness is going to win him over.'”
