The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus has suffered a head injury on the set of the popular zombie drama.
The actor, best known for portraying crossbow-wielding antihero Daryl Dixon on the AMC show, was reported to have suffered a concussion on March 11. It’s not clear whether the incident happened during filming or not.
However, thankfully, Reedus is doing okay after the accident, with his spokesperson Jeffrey Chassen reassuring fans in a statement issued to Deadline.
“Norman suffered a concussion on set,” Chassen said. “He is recovering well and will return to work soon. Thank you to everyone for their concern.”
The news was first confirmed by Fandemic Tour, with the event writing on Instagram that Reedus had to postpone his appearance following the accident.
“We are sending all of our thoughts and positive energy to Norman Reedus,” the post read. “Everyone in our amazing community knows how much he loves his fans, and he wants you to know how terrible he feels about the situation. However, we all want him to do what is best for his health. Let’s send him all of our well-wishes and hope for a speedy recovery.”
Reedus is pretty tied to the popular show, as his character Daryl and co-star Melissa McBride’s Carol Peletier are set to appear in an upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff.
Last year, showrunner Angela Kang discussed the decision to focus on the two buddies in a new adventure.
“First and foremost, we want to try to tell a great Walking Dead story,” Kang told Digital Spy. “We’ve got many characters that are part of this incredible group of survivors. Daryl and Carol are incredibly important to it, and I think they are both really good at being in their own stories, as sort of the leaders of their own thing. They’re both lone wolves in a lot of ways.
“But I think what is really touching about Daryl and Carol is that they are so important to each other. They do lean on each other in a really special way. And so we’re always going to use that. They are kind of touchstones for each other in a way that I think is very special.
“So that’s going to be something that carries out over the course of the story. And then at some point we will hand them off into another story.”
The Walking Dead season 11 airs on AMC.
