Childhood is supposed to be a time when you are taught something. Although there’s still a chance you won’t get it.

Young Sheldon shows us the times of The Big Bang Theory ‘s Sheldon Cooper’s childhood. One of the reasons this show was created was to give fans a chance to see their favorite quirky character grow up to become who he was on a parent show.

The main storylines that were shown in the spinoff helped us understand the adult Sheldon’s behavior in a way. And now we can say that there were actually things in his life that should have taught him some kind of moral lesson.

But Sheldon chose to go the other way and missed almost all of them, thus learning nothing from his previous experiences. Here are the most important lessons he should have learned.

1. Being Alone Is Actually a Bad Thing
Although Sheldon has had a reputation for pretending that he prefers to be alone, both The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon have repeatedly shown that he does, in fact, need people around him.

He complained about sharing a room with Missy, but when she left, he understood how lonely he had become. The same works for the parent show: he’s often mean to his friends, and especially Leonard, always whining about how bad it is to live with him, yet he couldn’t survive a day without him.

2. Sometimes You Can Fail
Another thing Sheldon didn’t learn was how to act when you’re not number one at everything. The boy genius always bragged about his intelligence, but he managed to fail regularly.

In fact, the worst thing that happened to him as a child was when his controversial grant database crashed. But even that didn’t tell him that he couldn’t do anything. Just as it happened later in The Big Bang Theory with the error in his and Amy’s first Nobel Prize paper.

3. Running Away Is Not The Option
Sheldon himself was not the one who tried to escape home in the spinoff. But he witnessed Missy’s unsuccessful attempt. Though he seems to have quickly forgotten how things ended for his sister that time.

In The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon tries to run away, only to lose all of his belongings (we all remember the freaky scene where Sheldon desperately walks around the train station in his underwear). So even his twin sister’s failure wasn’t a lesson learned.
