Outlander enthusiasts are eagerly ticking off the days until the prequel Blood of My Blood hits the screens, offering a much-needed dose of Scottish time-traveling adventure after a lengthy ‘Droughtlander’.
Although the final season of Outlander is already in the can, fans are still on tenterhooks for a release date. In the meantime, the official Outlander Instagram account has been stirring up some chatter by inviting followers to share their wildest show theories and discuss characters they have a love-hate relationship with.
Their post read: “I’m bored. Comment your hottest Outlander take. I’m not talking about ‘Jamie is better than Frank’, I’m talking your unhinged theories, characters you hate to love, the craziest thing you’d do for Outlander.”
The call to action saw thousands of fans swarm the comments section with some truly ‘Outlandish’ conjectures.
One particular comment sparked a lively debate regarding Claire Fraser’s dynamic with her son-in-law Roger MacKenzie, stating: “I think the book Roger definitely has a crush on Claire.”
This prompted a flurry of responses, including one that said: “Now this is a hot take.”
Even Richard Rankin, who portrays Roger on the series, chimed in on the thread, admitting: “I think the TV does too tbh.”
Another fan chimed in, suggesting: “Always thought he was just so in awe of her!”.
Another comment left Outlander aficionados astounded when it touched on the ‘forget me not’ flowers that Claire was collecting as she stumbled through the stones initially. A fan posited, “I believe Jamie planted the forget me nots by the stones to ensure Claire would come back to him from the future.”
Excited reactions included one follower’s exclamation: ” What? ? That’s amazing! ! ! I love that take!” while another chimed in with agreement: “I have always had the same theory! Great minds!”.
Yet, someone offered a divergent opinion, speculating: “I think Frank did. In the book he actually places a tombstone/memorial for Jamie so Claire can find it.”
Conversation shifted to a notorious Outlander scene dating back to season one, where, outside her B&B in Inverness, Claire senses the eerie presence of a kilted Highlander – rumored to be Jamie’s ‘ghost’.
In the very first episode, it was Frank Randall who observed the enigmatic figure peering at his spouse as she undressed. When he tried to confront the figure, it vanished.
Fans have speculated for years over this unresolved plot point, and one theorized: “Jamie’s ghost is waiting for Claire on Samhain every year until she dies and when she dies, she comes to Jamie at the statue in Inverness where he has waited patiently and she is young and he is young and they embrace and walk away up into the highlands of Scotland and fade into the mist. The end. We got the “happily” all through 8 seasons and the last scene is the “ever after”I’m bored. Comment your hottest Outlander take. I’m not talking about “.
Other fans were thrilled with this theory. One wrote: “this give Titanic vibes! I love it! ! !”.
Another chimed in: “I like that idea . I love it actually.”!
