Whether it’s the long-awaited showdown between the vigilantes and Homelander (Antony Starr) or the much-anticipated crossover with Gen V, there’s plenty to look forward to in Season 5 of The Boys. But if you ask a certain corner of the fandom what has them most excited, the answer is simple — the Supernatural reunion.
While fans won’t be cruising down the highway in the Impala with Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) this time, they’ll still get a major nostalgia boost. The final season of the hit Prime Video series will feature both Ackles and their Supernatural co-star Misha Collins, bringing the beloved trio back together on screen once again.
And the good news doesn’t stop there. Just as fans were getting ready for this reunion, new details revealed that yet another Supernatural crossover is on the way within The Boys universe — though we’ll have to wait a bit to see it unfold.
For several weeks now, cameras have been rolling on Vought Rising, the upcoming prequel to The Boys. The new series will explore the dark origins of the corrupt company that created the Supes, while also diving into the early days of Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront.
Now, it’s been confirmed that Ackles won’t be the only Supernatural face joining the chaos. Mark Pellegrino, best known for his unforgettable turn as Lucifer on the long-running CW series, has officially joined Vought Rising. While details about his role are still under wraps, Pellegrino is set to appear in a recurring capacity — a piece of news that’s sure to thrill fans who remember his devilish performances tormenting the Winchester brothers.
The casting announcement also introduced several other stars joining the ensemble. Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live), Annie Shapero (House of the Dragon), and Eric Johnson (Smallville) have all signed on for recurring roles. They’ll join the previously announced cast, which includes Mason Dye (Teen Wolf), KiKi Layne (The Old Guard), Nicolo Pasetti (That Dirty Black Bag), Will Hochman (Blue Bloods), Elizabeth Posey (Heels), Jorden Myrie (The Strays), Ricky Staffieri (The Bear), and Brian J. Smith (Sense8).
As for when fans can expect Vought Rising to hit Prime Video, the streaming service has yet to announce a premiere date. Still, with filming already underway and first-look images beginning to surface, it seems production is running smoothly.
Stay tuned — it won’t be long before The Boys universe expands once again, bringing another dose of chaos, satire, and a welcome reunion for Supernatural fans everywhere.
