Is Seema the New Laoghaire in ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’? Hermione Corfield Teases a Dangerous Twist

Outlander: Blood of My Blood has reunited Julia and Henry, but their long-awaited reunion is far from simple. After discovering that her husband sought comfort in another woman while believing she was gone forever, Julia must now contend with a new and potentially dangerous threat — Seema.

The latest episode, “A Portion of My Soul,” brings Julia, played by Hermione Corfield, back together with Henry, portrayed by Jeremy Irvine, at the Grant estate. But their relationship faces another test when Julia learns about Henry’s past involvement with Seema, played by Lauren McQueen.

Seema had recently arrived at Castle Leathers as a new worker, where she spoke about an encounter with a kind man. Julia eventually discovers that the man was Henry, who had visited Seema at a brothel while grieving the apparent loss of his wife.

Hermione Corfield Explains Julia’s Reaction to Henry’s Betrayal

Julia’s response to the revelation is complicated by her understanding of Henry’s emotional struggles. Although she recognizes the trauma he has endured, she must also confront her own feelings of hurt and betrayal.

“I think that she reacted fairly, and I think you would be furious,” Corfield tells TV Insider about the revelation.

“She’s constantly in that balance of understanding his mental health and the PTSD but also feeling her own feelings of betrayal and hurt. So I think, in that scene, we see her go through all the journey and movement through all that pain.”

Although Julia and Henry manage to begin repairing their relationship, Corfield suggests that forgiveness will not come without consequences.

“She’s gonna forgive, but she’s not gonna forget for a while, and I think it will take a minute.”

The couple manages to spend some quality time together before Julia returns to Castle Leathers. However, their personal problems are no longer the only concern, as Seema’s presence introduces a new layer of danger into Julia’s life.

Could Seema Be ‘Blood of My Blood’s Version of Laoghaire?

The latest developments have drawn comparisons between Seema and Laoghaire, the character played by Nell Hudson in the original Outlander series.

In Season 1 of Outlander, Laoghaire’s jealousy of Claire Fraser, played by Caitríona Balfe, led her to leave an ill-wish beneath Jamie and Claire’s bed. She later accused Claire of witchcraft, contributing to the events that nearly cost Claire her life.

A similar incident now appears to be unfolding in Blood of My Blood. According to Corfield’s discussion on TV Insider’s aftershow, an ill-wish was discovered in Julia’s baby’s cradle — an unsettling detail that recalls Laoghaire’s actions in the original series.

The parallel raises an intriguing question: could Seema become a similar threat to Julia?

Corfield’s comments suggest that Julia is beginning to understand the danger surrounding her. She initially suspects that Seema and Henry have been intimate, but she needs Henry to confirm her suspicions.

“I think instinctively she knows Seema and Henry have been intimate, but she needs Henry to confirm that,” Corfield explains.

“So when she comes back, that’s all been confirmed, so obviously she knows that her husband slept with another woman, so she’s not feeling great, and then Seema appears with a knife, so the threat level goes up a bit.”

Seema’s Next Move Could Change Everything

The episode ends on a cliffhanger, leaving viewers uncertain about how far Seema is willing to go and whether Julia is facing a threat comparable to the one Claire experienced at the hands of Laoghaire.

While the similarities are difficult to ignore, Seema’s ultimate intentions remain unclear. Her connection to Henry has already damaged Julia’s sense of security, and the appearance of a knife raises the stakes even further.

Whether Seema will follow a path resembling Laoghaire’s remains to be seen. For now, Julia has to navigate a painful betrayal while confronting a potential danger much closer to home.
