After Countdown’s Cancellation, Jensen Ackles Scores a Big Win with Tracker

It’s been a turbulent few weeks for Jensen Ackles fans. After Prime Video officially cancelled his crime series Countdown, the show quickly started slipping from streaming charts. But while Countdown fades, another Ackles-led project is racing to the top — and this time, it’s Tracker that’s stealing the spotlight.

The CBS procedural, which stars Justin Hartley alongside Ackles, premiered its latest season on October 19 and has already made a powerful debut. Just days after its premiere, Tracker stormed into the Paramount+ top 10 in the U.S., securing the #5 spot and climbing higher by the day.

Ackles doesn’t appear in every episode like Hartley, but when his character Russell Shaw enters the story, fans know the intensity is about to skyrocket. The show follows Colter Shaw (played by Hartley), a solitary figure who travels across the country in his RV, using his world-class tracking skills to help solve missing persons cases. Ackles plays Colter’s brother, a recurring role he’s carried through all three seasons. The series also stars Fiona Rene, Abby McEnany, and Eric Graise as regulars who round out the team.

Created for television by Ben H. Winters, Tracker marks another impressive chapter in his career. Winters, known for his work on Legion and Manhunt, took a bold leap with this original drama — one that’s clearly paid off. Hartley, meanwhile, wears multiple hats as both lead actor and executive producer, joined by Winters, Ryan O’Nan, Alex Katsnelson, and others behind the scenes.

When Do New Episodes of Tracker Air?
Fans eager to catch new adventures won’t have to wait long. Tracker airs every Sunday at 8 PM Eastern on CBS, with each episode becoming available to stream the following day on Paramount+.

The first season featured 13 episodes, while Season 2 expanded to 20. Now, Tracker Season 3 raises the stakes again, delivering a record 22 episodes — the biggest season yet. Paramount hasn’t officially confirmed a fourth season, but given the show’s surging performance, it seems more a matter of when than if.

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on Tracker Season 3, and catch up on all previous episodes now streaming on Paramount+.
